Morgan Preparatory Academy for Boys
Education for the boy he is and the man he’ll become
Our Why
The decision to start a Morgan Prep came from years of witnessing a critical gap in how the public school system supports students who experience behavioral challenges; particularly boys. Too often, behaviors that are developmentally appropriate, such as high activity levels, impulsivity, emotional expression, and the need for movement, are quickly labeled as ADHD, emotional disturbance, or justification for placement in specialty classrooms.
Rather than responding with proactive supports, skill-building, and understanding of child development, the common solution has become removal: removal from the classroom, extended time in hallway or alternative settings, frequent suspensions, or repeated calls home asking parents to intervene or pick their child up early. While these responses may temporarily reduce disruption, they come at a significant cost to the student.
Each removal results in lost instructional time. Over time, that loss compounds, leading to gaps in academic skills, decreased grades, and diminished confidence. Students begin to internalize the message that they are “too much,” "a problem,” or incapable of success in a traditional learning environment. Families are left frustrated, juggling work disruptions, and searching for answers, while schools continue to operate without sustainable solutions.
Our “why” stems from the urgent need to interrupt this cycle.
Students with behavioral challenges do not need less education. They need more intentional support. They deserve environments that address behavior without sacrificing academics, where regulation skills are taught alongside reading, math, and critical thinking. They need adults who understand that behavior is communication and that growth happens through consistency, relationships, and developmentally appropriate expectations...not exclusion.
This microschool was created to provide what many public systems cannot: a setting where behavioral support and high-quality academics coexist. A place where students remain in instruction, receive targeted social-emotional and behavioral interventions, and are taught the skills necessary to succeed without being pushed out of the learning environment.
At its core, this work is about equity. It is about ensuring that students, especially boys, who are often misunderstood are not academically penalized for behaviors that can be supported, shaped, and improved. It is about redefining success by keeping students engaged, learning, and growing, both behaviorally and academically.

Morgan Preparatory Academy for Boys is intentionally designed around how young boys learn, communicate, process emotions, and interact with the world. The philosophy is rooted in developmental research showing that boys have unique neurological, social, and behavioral patterns that require responsive educational environments.
Core Elements of the Philosophy
Movement as a Learning Tool – Boys often learn best when physical activity is integrated. Incorporating movement increases focus, reduces dysregulation, and enhances memory.
Structure and Predictable Routines – Research indicates boys thrive when expectations are clear, transitions are supported, and classroom environments minimize ambiguity.
Healthy Masculinity Development – Boys benefit from environments that encourage emotional expression, leadership, compassion, self-control, and strength without suppressing their natural energy or identity.
Mentorship and Male Role Models – Positive relationships with adults—especially male mentors—help boys develop self-confidence, emotional vocabulary, and productive behavioral habits.
Hands-On, Experiential Learning – Boys often excel with tactile, visual, and problem-solving activities rather than extended seatwork.

Why isn’t Morgan Prep Academy listed on the Odyssey marketplace yet?
Our school has been in touch with Odyssey, and they are currently working through a large backlog of schools that still need to be added to the marketplace. We expect to be approved in the coming weeks. During the TEFA sign-up process, you do not need to select a school yet. As soon as our school is approved, we will walk you through how to select Morgan Prep Academy and confirm your enrollment with us.
